How to Volunteer at OLC

Thank you for your interest in volunteering!

Any class parent who wishes to volunteer or chaperone class trips must take the Protecting God’s Children program mandated by the Archdiocese of Newark. This three-hour online awareness session educates and trains adults to understand the warning signs of child sexual abuse, the methods and means by which offenders commit abuse, and the five empowerment steps one can use to prevent child sexual abuse and abuse of vulnerable adults.

The following requirements must be met before serving as class parents, attending trips and events that might require you to be alone with children other than your own.

  • A completed Protecting God’s Children session with proof of a certificate (given upon completion)

  • A completed Volunteer Application

  • A signed Code of Conduct form

  • A Background Check

To register for the Protecting God’s Children session, go to the VIRTUS website at www.virtusonline.org. You may choose a session once you have created your VIRTUS ID and Password.  OLC School will provide dates throughout the year, however, you can choose a location and date that is convenient for your schedule from the above mentioned website.
